Buchtel Motors Landmark History:
Customers often ask us about the history of our building and our business. Here's what we know. . .
The original site is rumored to have been a stage coach stop in the late 1800's. (Perhaps they were repairing coach wheels at this location long before rubber was used in tires)!
In the 1930's and 40's, a wooden structure on this site was home to a Cities Service Station.
In 1952, the current block and stucco building was erected by Ben Gerhardt as a Frontier Gas and Oil Station. (Gerhardt maintained the business for 22 years).
In 1974, Curt and Jomane Ross bought the business and ran it until John Everest purchased it in 1984.
Since 1984 many changes have been made. In 1987 a building with room for three work bays, equipment and a secured parking lot were added.
The underground fuel storage tanks were removed in 1994, and the soil was certified "clean" by the EPA.
In 1989, a third building was erected to house parts and supplies.
Recently, an office building and customer waiting area were added. As you read about the changes and improvements of what we call our daytime home, feel free to tell us what you have experienced in the neighborhood.
We'd love to tell your stories about Denver, and will post them right here on our website
